French animation has experienced an incredible development over the past twenty years, with the average annual feature production rising from three to ten. The sector combines high-tech and economical production with more artistic approaches that have brought to the fore an incredible variety of talents: Benjamin Renner, Sylvain Chomet, Frank Dion, Bastien Dubois, Joan Sfar… However, this cinema has not come about form nowhere, as can be seen with The Shadoks, the history of 3D in France, Chronopolis and the history of advertising films from 1910 to 1970.
Here's a selection of films, shorts or features, that have stood out during this rise. In addition, an exhibition devoted to the Shadoks series will be on display at Flagey during the Festival.
Some films will be screened at Flagey, others at the Palace.
Please note that you cannot buy tickets for the Palace at Flagey, but the prices are the same as Anima's.
